Iced Mocha and How To Make It

Coffee with chocolate? Yes please, give us all of that chocolatey goodness! There is something great about a good chocolate and coffee combination. Chocolate covered espresso beans, a mocha from your favorite coffee shop, even tiramisu; chocolate and coffee belong together. So how can you bring your favorite coffee shop mocha to your kitchen? It’s surprisingly simple and will make your kitchen smell like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory while you’re at it. So what’s not to love?

Let’s start with a traditional mocha. Now, a traditional mocha syrup isn’t just chocolate. If we make it the classic way it combines espresso with chocolate and when you mix the two together it enhances the rich flavor that both ingredients have. It’s mouthwateringly good, so here’s how to make it.

Mocha Syrup

1 cup of granulated white sugar

1 cup of brewed coffee (if you don’t want the extra caffeine, try using decaf coffee or even water for this recipe)

½ cup of cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • In a saucepan combine the sugar, brewed coffee, and cacao powder.
  • Heat the ingredients at medium heat and stir consistently so the mixture doesn’t burn.
  • After everything is fully dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat
  • Add in a teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir until dissolved
  • Let your mocha syrup full cool to room temperature
  • Seal in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to two weeks

Tips and Tricks: If you are trying to cut processed sugar out of your diet but still want to make this recipe, try using coconut sugar as an alternative. It will still keep it sweet and has a similar consistency to white sugar but isn’t overly processed.

That’s it! How simple and easy is that! Now you are ready to make your delicious mocha creations.

Iced Mocha

1 Real Good Coffee Co. Espresso Pod (Use desired strength)

2oz of homemade mocha syrup (If you like your coffee on the sweeter side then add in some extra syrup)

Milk of choice

Ice

  • Fill up your glass of choice with ice to the top.
  • In a small espresso glass pour in 2oz of your homemade mocha syrup and brew an espresso pod over the mocha syrup.
  • Once the pod is done brewing stir the syrup and espresso until completely mixed.
  • Pour your mocha and espresso mix over the ice.
  • Pour your milk of choice to the top and enjoy!

Wanna make it Instagramable? For a little extra pizzaz, you can put some whipped cream on top with a sprinkle of cocoa powder. (Don’t forget to tag realgoodcoffeeco on Instagram and show us your creations.)

So you don’t have an espresso machine or maybe espresso just isn’t your thing,  that is completely fine. We have the solution for you — cold brew! You can never go wrong with a tall glass of cold brew. But, what if it wasn’t JUST cold brew, what if it was a chocolate milk cold brew?

Chocolate Milk Cold Brew

Pre-made Real Good Coffee Co. Cold Brew

2oz of homemade mocha syrup

Heavy Cream

Ice

  • Pour in 2oz of your homemade mocha syrup (if you want it sweeter then make sure and add in a little more).
  • Fill your glass with Real Good Coffee Co. cold brew up to the halfway mark.
  • Stir your mocha syrup and cold brew together until fully mixed.
  • Fill with ice almost to the top of the glass — leave about half an inch of room.
  • Then top off your cold brew with heavy cream.
  • Give your cold brew a good little stir and enjoy your childhood favorite while staying caffeinated to make it through the day.

Pro Tip: The amount of heavy cream you use will determine the strength of your coffee. This isn’t your average coffee creamer. So start small and add in more as desired but to start, less is more.

If you’re a chocolate lover then you have had a mocha over and over again. So, maybe it’s time to go a little out of the box and try something new while still keeping that classic mocha base.
