Whipped Coffee Three Ways

Whipped coffee became super popular on social media during the pandemic in 2020 and the momentum has not stopped. Dalgona coffee (the traditional name for whipped coffee) is delicious, aesthetically pleasing, and super easy to make. If you have already made the original whipped coffee too many times by chance — then the following recipes are for you! These whipped coffee recipes have the same great consistency as the original while spicing up the flavor.

What is Dalgona Coffee?

Dalgona coffee is a delicious whipped coffee that sits on top of a layer of milk. Dalgona coffee originated in South Korea but has quickly become a popular coffee staple here in the States. To make a traditional Dalgona coffee you whisk together instant coffee, sugar, and water together until you get a frothy whipped cream texture, except, instead of cream it's coffee. Once you have that lovely, silky consistency, you then spoon the whipped coffee into a glass on top of a layer of milk. Dalgona coffee may be perplexing for your taste buds at first, but once you realize just how delicious it is you won’t want to stop drinking!

While the original recipe does call to use instant coffee, it isn’t always a favorite choice for coffee lovers. If you want to learn how to make Dalgona coffee without having to use instant coffee (or if you are just curious to learn more about Dalgona coffee) then visit our previous blog post here.

Coconut Whipped Coffee

There's something refreshing about coconut! It's as if it just mentally transports you to an island and sweeps away all of your cares. That added with coffee, what better way is there to start your morning?

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee or Real Good Coffee Co. Espresso
  • 2 tablespoons coconut sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 2 tablespoon coconut cream
  • Coconut milk
  • Shredded coconut (if desired)

Directions:

  2. Mix all three ingredients until you get a fluffy and cloud-like texture. Since we are subbing out granulated sugar for coconut sugar the consistency will be slightly different but it will still be fluffy and delicious.
  3. If your glass of choice, pour in two tablespoons of coconut cream and mix with coconut milk. (The milk mixture should be from halfway to ¾ of the way to the top.)
  4. Spoon the whipped coffee on top of the coconut mixture. (The mixture will go above the top of the rim of the glass or not if you like.)
  5. If desired, sprinkle shredded coconut on top of the whipped coffee for an eye-catching experience.
